November 11 Seven Sisters Falls

On Tuesday, we joined S/Vs Absaroque, Opus, Blue Heaven and Emerald Seas for a land adventure to Seven Sisters Falls, a series of waterfalls deep in the heart of Grenada. This was described in the literature as a relatively easy 45 minute hike. Huh?? Well. Among such wonderful things as Target and ATMs on every corner, apparently the third world doesn't believe in switchbacks either. It is a precarious climb down (walking stick recommended) and a tortuous climb up. Nary a flat piece of earth to be found. After the climb, Craig and I learn that we had been sharing repeating brain tapes since it was too hard to talk: broken ankle, broken leg, heart attack, broken ankle....We wound up only doing three falls.
These things I know now: Craig's graft is patent and, clearly, my pipes are clean too, or else we would both be DRT, which is emergency room speak for "dead right there". We had decided to join the hike but would not be doing any jumping. I am a chicken and am grateful to have Craig's freshly healed sternum as an excuse not to jump. Fortunately, no one else in the group wanted to do the jumps either. Whew.

Our group. Denise and Jean-Pierre of S/V Absaroque. Also the highlight, Honeymoon Falls:

The guide backflipped off Honeymoon Falls. I was skeerd. Craig practicing for his swimsuit modeling career:

Back at Spice Island Boat Yard....things are going exceptionally well. The work is meticulous and on time. Two of my favorite things. And only $27US/hour. Comparable rates in the United States are $60-80/hour. In addition to the bottom job, we are having them repack the seal on the shaft (where the propeller shaft enters the boat, preventative maintenance, a big hole you do NOT want to fail) as well as perform some (minor) repair of deep gelcoat scratches above the waterline.

As it turns out, I did pop an ankle on the waterfall journey. Ugly but doesn't really hurt too bad and nothing that can't be overcome with ibuprofen, ice packs and rum.

Some views from our balcony and the pool. We are in it every afternoon.

Oh. I guess I am officially a cruiser now. I do not steal the soap and toilet paper but do take the opportunity to use resort water to wash the bits we have dirtied up during the last couple of days.

Here are some videos of the waterfalls. For the big one, you either have to turn your head sideways or figure out how to rotate it for viewing. I could not get the rotate to save.
That's about all the news for now. Not too much on deck for tomorrow. We splash the boat 0800 Friday.

Haha - I beat Skip today :)
What a hunka hunka burning love! You won't have to go back to work Admiral - just line the Captain up a couple of modeling gigs!
Looks like that was a bit more than our goat path to hell - sorry the ankle took a hit but glad to hear that the bypass held up! Beautiful falls - you know you aren't making my New Years decision any easier :(
Have a restful day tomorrow - enjoy the pool and fluffy towels for one more day - and a successful re-entry on Friday!
Love ya -

Well heck Candy - i didnt realize it was a competition... but, i 'LET' you win. ladies first and all that!

Angela; i'm so very very very sorry to see the sprained ankle. i used to get those in basketball. i jump up and someone puts their foot down where i'm landing. bam, ouch, sprain. it can take a week - ten days to heal. elevate and more ice. (put some on the ankle) Also walk on it as soon as you can to get it back in shape. good luck and ouch.

Craig; wow - nice suit. (i hear sports illustrated knocking)

very jealous. i've been working and doing catch up chores. glad to see you are well (ankle excluded) and living the La Vita Loca.

I knew you were a gentleman, Skip, regardless of what Angela said - just kidding of course :) Thanks for "letting" me go first...

I am reading your post and all sorts of comments enter my head. However, in this situation I think the best response is "no comment!" :)
